Who did they just follow? Ask The Ick.
Give The Ick one public Instagram username. It lists the accounts they followed recently, newest at the top, and marks the ones they dropped.
Works on public profiles, the ones anyone can open.
Level 1
How it reads their list
Their Following list shows who they follow now. It doesn't show what's changed. The Ick puts that list in the order the accounts were added, so the newest sits at the top, and it marks the accounts that left the list as unfollowed.
It works on public profiles, because Instagram lets anyone see what a public account shares help.instagram.com
Think of a group chat. Scrolling up through every message is the Following list. The Ick is the little "new" marker that jumps you to what arrived since you last checked.
More detail
A public profile's Following list is open to anyone. The Ick looks it up from the username you give, sorts the accounts by when they appeared, and checks the list against the last look: a new name is a new follow, a missing name is an unfollow. A private profile keeps that list to approved followers.
Level 2
True or false?
You need their password, or yours, to see who they follow.
False. The Ick asks for one username, theirs. You never sign in to Instagram for it.
You have to follow them before you can see who they follow.
False. A public profile's Following list is open to anyone, follower or not. The Ick only puts it in order.
Level 3
When a name looks off
He says she is just a friend, and her name just showed up on his list.
You just started talking and want to see if he's still adding new girls.
Your ex's following count went up and you want the names behind it.
A second date is coming and you wonder who caught their eye lately.
